Barker’s Foodstore & Eatery - Auckland, is located at Ponsonby Central, overlooking the greenery of Brown Street Reserve.

Our venue is like no other, as we feature our very own Barker's of Geraldine products throughout all our food and beverages, as well as many other delicious ingredients produced in our hometown. Whether it’s a traditional South Island cheese roll, a beef brisket pie or a sweet treat, our talented chefs have crafted our much-loved Barker’s products into the entire menu.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, weekends 9am to 3pm.

About the Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time Cook to join our kitchen team. You’ll play a key role in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to a positive, collaborative kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to Barker’s standards

• Assist with menu development and bring creative ideas to the table

• Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency

• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, following all hygiene and safety guidelines

• Support the team during busy service periods

• Manage stock rotation and assist with ordering when required

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a chef or cook in a café or restaurant setting

• Passion for food and creativity in the kitchen

• Strong attention to detail and time management skills

• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team

• Reliable, punctual, and flexible for weekend shifts

• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practicesFlexible to work different shifts, including early mornings, weekends or public holidays as needed
